Cleanup is happening!

Annual cleanup is happening today. A big thanks to all the generous contributors to the Fresh Pond Neighbors Association!

Solitude Lake Solutions is now removing algae mats and overgrown and decaying lily pad leaves and stems. The lily pads, however, are not being harmed. They will quickly regrow and helping remove even more phosphorus and nitrogen from the lake and aquifer, and providing safe spawning areas for fish.

For a few days, you may notice a few cut lily pads floating around. These will disappear.

Even better, clarity in Fresh Pond has continued to increase and there have been no blooms since mid-June.

FPNA will continue to sample, test, and monitor and keep you posted.
