Observations -- first week in August

The pond has responded remarkably to the cleanup and removal of 5,440 pounds of lily pads and algal material.

Light now reaching the bottom has triggered rapid regrowth, quickly pulling more nitrogen and phosphorus from the lake. Measured clarity has simultaneously increased to a depth 2.75 meters (9 feet.)

While we will need to repeat this process each year until the deep water sediments are cleansed, the pond is reminding us of just how beautiful it has been for generations over decades and centuries and how clear and fresh it can still be.
