Data on Fresh Pond Water Quality

The Fresh Pond Neighbors Association has been monitoring conditions from late spring through early fall since 2017, through the Citizen’s Statewide Lake Assessment Program to keep you healthy! Biological assessments are available here as they come in. We sample both shallow and deep waters plus suspicious blooms. Water chemistry and biology is analyzed by New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC.) You can view and download detailed annual summary reports and surveys via the links below.


Tracking the “Muck to Mulch” Harvest Cleanup

Visual clarity, Summber 2025:

  • June 8th    -- .9 meters

  • June 22nd   --  .9 meters

  • July 1st and 2nd -- first harvest/cleanup — 2,200 pounds removed

  • On July 6th   -- 1.5 meters

  • July 7th -- continued harvest/cleanup

  • July 13th       -- 1.9 meters

  • July 20th      — 1.5 meters

  • August 3rd — 2.9 meters — but cyanobacteria visiting from the bottom

  • August 10th — 3.1 meters of clarity!

  • August 12th, 13th — second harvest/cleanup — 3,020 pounds removed

  • August 17th — 2.9 meters

Visual clarity, Summer 2024:

  • June 1st thru July 14th: — max 1 meter

  • July 16th and 17th — harvest/cleanup — 5,440 pounds removed

  • June 27th — 2 meters

  • August 10 — 3 meters
